Baltimore Orioles left-handed starter Wade Miley threw 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball to lead the Orioles to a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis, Minn. July 8. The victory halted a five-game losing streak and was the Orioles' first win against the Twins this season in six tries.
Miley scattered eight hits and walked three batters over his 107-pitch performance, but the only damage was a solo home run by Twins designated hitter Miguel SanĂ³ in the bottom of the third. Miley's effort was the deepest an Orioles starter has gotten into a game since July 2, when right-hander Kevin Gausman threw seven shutout innings against the Tampa Bay Rays.
It also ended a porous run of outings for Miley, who had allowed four or more runs in each of his previous six starts. It was Miley's best start since June 1, when he threw seven innings of one-run ball against the Boston Red Sox.
