Orioles Anxiously Awaiting Chris Davis' Return

Orioles first baseman Chris Davis should be back from the 10-day disabled list when play resumes after the All-Star break July 14. Manager Buck Showalter told reporters in Milwaukee Davis will play one game each for Class-A Frederick and Low-A Delmarva during the break.

Since Davis left the Orioles' June 12 game with a with a strained right oblique, the team has gone 9-13. Davis was batting .226 with 14 home runs, 26 RBIs and a league-leading 95 strikeouts in 61 games.

The injury should at least save Davis from a third straight 200-plus strikeout season, and perhaps the five weeks of rest will enable the slugger to come back stronger.
