When Gavin Sheets entered his freshman year at The Gilman School in 2011, he was stepping into a baseball program that had named his father -- former Oriole Larry Sheets -- the varsity head coach a year prior.
Gavin Sheets said other players have told him they don't think they would've played for their own father, but the Chicago White Sox prospect relished the experience.
"We had a great relationship on and off the field," Gavin Sheets told Glenn Clark Radio June 27. "I personally loved it. Having him to coach me was an unbelievable experience, and our relationship grew from that."
