Zach Britton has one more rehab appearance scheduled for July 3 at Triple-A Norfolk. However, the left-handed closer who the Orioles hope is nearing the end of his stint on the 60-day disabled list with a strained left forearm, doesn’t think he needs that appearance.

Britton, who was transferred from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day list June 20 to make room for outfielder Craig Gentry, can’t be activated until July 5 when the Orioles are in Milwaukee.

He made his sixth rehab appearance at Class-A Frederick June 30, throwing his fifth scoreless inning. Britton didn’t allow a baserunner and threw 11 pitches.

“I felt ready to go after that one. I felt like I was ready to pitch in the big leagues,” Britton said. “Definitely sharp and ready to go.”
