Kevin Gausman has patiently answered questions about his troubling 2017 season. But in his last two starts, there have been positive signs the right-hander has been turning his year around.
The most uplifting start was July 2, when Gausman allowed two singles in seven innings to the Tampa Bay Rays duringthe Orioles’ 7-1 win before 26,489 at Oriole Park.
In his last two starts, Gausman has pitched 12.1 scoreless innings, giving up just six hits.
“I think you only get confidence from success. You got to have that first,” Gausman said. “Feel like I’m throwing the ball well right now and just got to keep it going. I had a great second half last year, so obviously looking forward to that and knowing I’m the type of guy that gets better as the season goes on. That’s always good.”
