Advance CTE Adds 2017-2018 Board of Director's Officers

Advance CTE welcomes its 2017-2018 Board of Director's officers.

"Career Technical Education (CTE) is increasingly being seen as a premier strategy for getting all learners for prepared for successful education and career pathways," said Dr. Pradeep Kotamraju, Career and Technical Education Bureau Chief, Division of Community College, Iowa Department of Education and Advance CTE Board President. "As Board President, I am humbled and honored to lead Advance CTE and I am committed to advancing Putting Learner Success First: A Shared Vision for the Future of CTE. Using this vision as the central guiding force, I look forward to helping shape Carl D. Perkins reauthorization and implementation, updating the National Career Clusters Framework, and continuing to build the visibility of and support for high-quality CTE. It is my hope and intent that over the upcoming year and beyond, that CTE and the principles of Putting Learner Success First are seen as being synonymous."

In addition to President Kotamraju, new officers include:

  • Vice President - Dr. Bernadette Howard, State Director for Career and Technical Education, University of Hawaii;
  • Secretary/Treasurer - Dr. Sarah Heath, Assistant Provost for CTE, CTE Dean, Colorado Community College System; and
  • Past President - Jo Anne Honeycutt, Director, Career and Technical Education, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction


"This cohort of leaders in Career Technical Education bring a strong commitment to increasing access to high-quality CTE for all learners," said Kimberly Green, Advance CTE Executive Director. "Advance CTE is fortunate to have an incredible group of experienced individuals leading the Board of Directors and organization in a time where CTE is experiencing a resurgence of interest as a pathway to help our nation's employers close the skills gaps by ensuring more learners find education and career success."
