Point Breeze Credit Union Donates $10,000 to the Veterans Advisory Council

7/4/17

Point Breeze Credit Union recently donated $10,000 to the Veterans Advisory Council (VAC) of Carroll County.

The VAC helps veterans and their families transition to civilian life in Carroll County and evaluates, develops and promotes new and existing programs and services for veterans in the county.

The donation from Point Breeze will be used towards the VAC’s development of the county’s first permanent housing shelter for veterans and their families. With the donation, the VAC will assess site conditions at the former U.S. Army Reserve at 412 Malcom Drive, to determine what repairs the building may need completed to operate as the housing shelter. The shelter will also provide on-site services including access to medical care, transportation and connections to job training and educational help.

“The new center will provide essential services to our veterans that will truly change their lives. At the shelter, veterans will be able to receive important services for free. We are very grateful for the support that Point Breeze has provided to help local veterans. The donation speaks to the heart of Point Breeze and their commitment to the community, our county and our veterans,” said Frank Valenti, Chair of the VAC.

The donation was made as Point Breeze recently expanded into Carroll County with a new office in Westminster, Md.

“As a community focused credit union, it is our mission to give back to our neighbors,” said Brenda Fisher, manager of Point Breeze Credit Union’s Westminster location. “The VAC provides outstanding services to the veterans who have served our country and we are thankful for the opportunity to help end homelessness of veterans.”

Point Breeze Credit Union’s new Westminster office, located at 405 Englar Road, offers the latest in banking innovations for more personalized service and advanced technology to help members achieve their financial goals.
