Former Catonsville High School and University of Maryland pitcher Adam Kolarek has taken the long road home to playing baseball in Baltimore.
After spending more than seven years in the minor leagues, the left-handed reliever was called up June 27 to the Tampa Bay Rays, who begin a weekend series against the Orioles at Camden Yards June 30.
Kolarek, 28, has a chance to make his major league debut in his hometown.
"It would be something out of a fairy-tale dream after this journey through the minors," Kolarek said on Glenn Clark Radio June 29. "To finally make it and to have my debut be at the place where I've been going since I was a kid … if it does work out, it would just be perfect."
