Sterling-backed GRO Names Roger Valine to Chair Board of Directors

Grand Rapids Ophthalmology (GRO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Roger J. Valine to its Board of Directors. Mr. Valine served for 15 years as the president and chief executive officer of Vision Service Plan (VSP), the largest vision benefits company in the U.S.

Mr. Valine stated, “I am very grateful for this opportunity to serve on the Board of this impressive company, known for the state-of-the-art care they provide to their patients.”

Mr. Valine began his 34-year career at VSP as a management trainee when the company had $10 million in annual revenue. Under Roger’s leadership, the company grew to nearly $3 billion in revenue, provided vision care insurance to more than 55 million members, and was selected for eight consecutive years as one of Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For”.
