New Apartment Community will provide 70 well-designed homes in Baltimore City

Enterprise Homes, Inc. closed on financing last week for Metro Heights at Mondawmin, a new transit-oriented development that will be located at Reisterstown Road and Liberty Heights Avenue, Baltimore, Md. 21215.The official groundbreaking ceremony for Metro Heights will take place July 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Mayor Catherine Pugh and other dignitaries.

When completed, the new four-story elevator building will offer 70 apartment homes comprised of a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Metro Heights will be built to LEED Silver standards, and will include features that promote energy efficiency and sustainability, such as Energy Star windows and appliances, high-efficiency heating and ventilating systems, water-conserving plumbing, and stormwater management. Amenities will include in-unit washer/dryers, a club room on the top floor, a business center, and a fitness room.

“Two years ago, Enterprise Homes searched for an opportunity in the Mondawmin area to help create quality affordable homes and a positive change in the community. With the help of Baltimore Housing, we found the ideal location,”said Chickie Grayson, president & CEO of Enterprise Homes. “At Enterprise, we recognize that affordable, quality homes need to be connected to a wide array of opportunities, such as transportation, access to jobs, education, health care and services to meet the daily needs of the community.”

The Metro Heights site is ideally situated within walking distance of the Metro and the numerous bus lines available at the Mondawmin transit hub. The adjacent Mondawmin Mall offers ample options for shopping and dining, as well as health services. The new Parks and People Foundation campus is across the street, and Druid Hill Park – the largest park in Baltimore City – provides expansive green space for leisure and recreational activities a block away.

The total construction cost for Metro Heights will be $15.9 million. Financing is being provided by the State of Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development, the City of Baltimore, SunTrust Community Capital, LLC, Enterprise Community Investment, Inc., and Bellwether Enterprise.

"SunTrust Community Capital is proud to help support this development, which will help expand access to quality affordable housing in Baltimore City,” said Glen R. Hatton, First Vice President of SunTrust Community Capital, LLC. “This type of initiative is one of the ways we help deliver on our purpose of Lighting the Way to Financial Well-Being."
