Food King Supermarket Undergoes Major Renovation Of Patapsco Village Shopping Center Location

6/28/17

Food King Supermarket, a long-established and locally owned Baltimore grocery chain has recently completed a major overhaul of its Patapsco Village Shopping Center location (3400 Annapolis Road), which borders the County and City in Southwest Baltimore.

The remodel began after a change in ownership of Food King Supermarkets in 2016 to brothers Edilio, Rafael and Ramon Flores. It includes a full renovation of all refrigeration equipment, installation of additional shelving and a massive expansion of product, including a full selection of international goods, a full-service Latino butcher shop and an authentic Mexican Latino bakery. The location’s staff was also expanded to include residents of the local community.

“This location has served the community for more than 20 years but over that time, the community has evolved and the needs of our clientele have changed,” said Bob Baxendell, Vice President of Retail Operations for Food King Supermarkets. “We want to provide enhancements to the store that would better serve the evolving community.”

The Flores family also owns Food King in the Northwest Plaza Shopping Center in Northwest Baltimore, which features an in-store bakery, full-service deli and a fresh meat and seafood department.

Baltimore-based developer Klein Enterprises owns and operates both the Patapsco Village Shopping Center and the Northwest Plaza Shopping Center. Both centers feature national tenants including Roses Discount Store, Dollar Tree, Rainbow Apparel, My Shoe City, Rite Aid, BB&T Bank, Advance Auto, and M&T Bank, respectively.

“We welcome the Flores family to the Patapsco Village Shopping Center and the entire neighborhood,” said Patricia Palumbo, director of leasing and marketing for Klein Enterprises. “We wish them great success.”
