Back when Zach Britton was a young, left-handed starter in the Orioles' organization, he spent a season with the Aberdeen IronBirds in 2007.
A decade later, the All-Star closer returned to the Orioles' Class A short-season affiliate to begin an undetermined number of rehab games as he works his way back from a sore left forearm.
On June 20, Britton took the first step when he threw a scoreless inning for Aberdeen. He even started the game -- on the IronBirds' Opening Day, no less.
Britton already has a relationship with Aberdeen pitching coach Mark Hendrickson, a former Oriole who is beginning his coaching career with the IronBirds.
