The All-Star teams will be announced on July 2, two weeks from now. No Orioles are likely to be voted as starters. Third baseman Manny Machado and catcher Welington Castillo were third in the latest voting update. Adam Jones was 13th in the outfielders voting.
Second baseman Jonathan Schoop, who has never been to an All-Star Game is not in the top 5. Castillo has also never been an All-Star. Jones has been a five-time All-Star, and Machado has made three All-Star teams.
Manager Buck Showalter, who managed the American League All-Star team in 1995, said that he occasionally gets called by the AL manager on possible pitchers, is not one to publicly or privately campaign for his players.
