After a disastrous three-game series in New York June 9-11 in which the Orioles were outscored 38-8 while getting swept by the Yankees, questions were raised about the future of the club. A 10-7 loss to the Chicago White Sox to extend the Orioles' losing streak to five did nothing to quell the concern.
A half-game out of first in the American League East May 21, the Orioles are now in fourth place, 7.5 games behind the first-place Yankees and a half-game ahead of the last-place Toronto Blue Jays.
