Baltimore County Guinness Brewery Gets a Name, Brewmaster

The Guinness brewery coming to Baltimore County is so big that it needed its own law. With that over, the company named someone to run the place.

According to Guinness parent Diageo, Peter Wiens will be the brewmaster at the Relay facility, which is called Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House. He last played a role in leading the buildout of Stone Brewing Company’s brewery in Richmond, Va.

“Peter brings broad expertise, encompassing large and small operations and his ties to the mid-Atlantic brewing community will help to reinforce our commitment to ensuring the area prospers as a destination for beer lovers,” Diageo Beer Company USA President Thomas Day said in a statement.
