Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome has yet to add that "complementary receiver" he spoke of at the end of last season, but his wait-and-see approach could bear fruit after the Chiefs abruptly released Jeremy Maclin.
Maclin, 29, had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2014 and 2015 before slipping this past season, when he caught 44 passes for 536 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. Those were all career lows for the former first-round pick out of Missouri, and the Chiefs realized about $10 million in cap savings by cutting him.
Given their lack of receiver depth -- just two receivers on the Ravens' roster caught more than seven passes last season -- the Ravens are widely viewed as a potential landing spot for Maclin. Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was Maclin's offensive coordinator in Philadelphia for four years.
