Have you noticed there is one thing missing from the first two months of the 2017 MLB season? No managers have been fired. In fact, there has been little mention of anyone being on the hot seat.
Well, that's never stopped us from taking a stab at conjecture.
Forget about looking at the truly bad teams, such the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics. Their managements know there is no quick fix for what ails them. The Phillies, specifically, extended skipper Pete Mackanin a few weeks ago. If things really go south for Philadelphia, the Phillies could do a redirect looking ahead to 2018, but that is hardly how a new administration of Andy MacPhail and Matt Klentak want to be perceived.
