For the past five years, the Orioles have had at least two representatives on the American League All-Star team. However, in the early results of fan balloting for the 2017 game, which will be held in Miami's Marlins Park July 11, third baseman Manny Machado is the only Oriole leading at his position, and his advantage is a narrow one.
Machado leads the Minnesota Twins' Miguel Sano by less than 6,000 votes.
The other Orioles who are among the leaders are: catcher Welington Castillo, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list for the second time this season May 31 with a groin injury, is second; Jonathan Schoop, is fifth among second basemen; and Adam Jones is seventh among outfielders.
