The Maryland Terrapins showed their mettle by holding off pesky Denver to advance to the NCAA national championship in lacrosse for the third straight year.
The Towson Tigers also looked impressive, but fell just short of making the second title game in program history.
Both Maryland and Towson relinquished multi-goal, second-half leads in the semifinals in Foxborough, Mass., on May 27. However, the top-seeded Terrapins were able to put away the Pioneers in a 9-8 victory. Despite leading 7-3 at the half, the Tigers could not hold off third-seeded Ohio State in a heartbreaking 11-10 loss.
