After Kevin Gausman's strong finish to the 2016 season, big things were expected from the 26-year-old right-hander in 2017. With Chris Tillman starting the season on the disabled list, Gausman was chosen for his first Opening Day start.
While that start didn't go badly -- he gave up two runs and five hits in 5.1 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays in receiving a no-decision -- things quickly went downhill for Gausman.
Statistically, he is one of the worst starting pitchers in the American League at the moment. Heading into his scheduled start at the Houston Astros May 26, Gausman is 2-3 with a 6.65 ERA.
