Angie Barnett, President/CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving Greater Maryland was recently named to The Daily Record’s listing of Maryland’s Top 100 Women at the awards event held at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

The Daily Record began Maryland’s Top 100 Women in 1996 to recognize outstanding achievements by women demonstrated through professional accomplishments, community leadership and mentoring. A record number of 435 women were nominated this year for the statewide honor.

Barnett has been at the helm of BBB, which is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year, since 2006. She oversees BBB’s more than 2,600 Accredited Businesses. She has extensive experience working in executive roles for non-profit organizations, including, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, where she served as the Vice President of Membership.

A native of Arkansas, Barnett truly believes in giving back to the community, a commitment she demonstrates through her service to others. She is a member of the Advisory Board of Towson University’s College of Business and Economics and also mentors students in their senior year on career development. She was also a founding director of a community-based program bringing education and work-place skills to young parents as well as assisted Cecil County Commissioners implement a HotSpot program to reduce crime.

A graduate of Arkansas State, Barnett currently lives in the historic Federal Hill area of Baltimore and is a graduate of Leadership Maryland. She continues to serve on several boards of community-based programs.

“It was such an honor to receive this award along with so many other talented and smart women. What a thrill to be recognized in the community but, more importantly, what a pleasure to meet and learn from so many other local accomplished women,” remarked Barnett.
