During her 16 years as the head women's lacrosse coach at Maryland, Cindy Timchal guided the Terps to 12 Final Four appearances and eight NCAA championships. More than a decade after she left Maryland to start the Navy program, Timchal's current team is one step away from a Final Four berth.

Navy has reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the first time in the program's 10-year history. The Midshipmen will take a 17-4 record and an eight-game winning streak into their game at defending NCAA champion North Carolina at 1 p.m. May 20.
