Always Dreaming, who is ridden by John Velazquez and trained by Todd Pletcher, is listed at 4-5 in the morning line odds.
Setting up a dramatic start, Always Dreaming's chief competitor, Classic Empire, snagged the No. 5 gate and is listed at 3-1. Classic Empire, who finished fourth in the Derby, is ridden by Julien Leparoux and trained by Mark Casse.
Ten colts will contend for 1 3/16th-mile Preakness Stakes.
