You may have heard former Orioles third baseman Melvin Mora became a U.S. citizen May 10. I thought the story was neat, so we invited Mora to join us on Glenn Clark Radio the next day to discuss it, and and he accepted.
After the interview, regular show listener Paul Moss of Florida asked me a fascinating question via Twitter. To paraphrase, he asked which Orioles player who was part of the team during the dark years (14 straight losing seasons from 1998-2011) did I most wish could have experienced the success the team has enjoyed since 2012. The candidates he suggested were former first baseman Jeff Conine, former second baseman Brian Roberts, former pitcher Jeremy Guthrie and Mora.
Conine seems a bit misplaced. He was with the Birds for all or part of six seasons (1999-2003, 2006) and was a solid player, but he's obviously best known as a Florida Marlin, having won two World Series titles with them. But the other candidates are certainly fascinating.
