CLEO Announces April 26th Justice & Diversity Teen Town Hall in Baltimore

4/21/17

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 the Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO), Inc.’s mentoring program for diverse and underserved youth, CLICKS (CLEO Legally Inspired College Kohorts of Students), will host the Who’s Got Your Back – Justice & Diversity Teen Town Hall at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. More than 150 high school and middle school students from the Greater Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area are expected to be in attendance for this hotly anticipated gathering.

The CLICKS Teen Town Hall is intended to help motivated, high-potential area youth:

  • Better understand their rights and responsibilities

  • Understand and appreciate the value of mentors

  • Learn to identify and engage appropriate mentors

  • Discover how to become more engaged in their communities

  • Develop better relationships with community leaders

  • Find their niche to impact positive change wherever they go

This free event will feature opening remarks from Baltimore Ravens General Manager, Ozzie Newsome, a keynote address by notable Baltimore attorney, J. Wyndal Gordon (“The Warrior Lawyer”), and a special musical performance by Baltimore-based hip-hop artist, Damond Blue. There will also be several interactive workshops, prize giveaways, and breakfast and lunch.

Speaking about her son, Ravens Hall of Famer Jonathan Ogden, CLEO's CEO, Cassandra Sneed Ogden, recalls, "People often ask how much he weighed when he was born; how did you manage to feed him; did he get his athleticism from you? Although I attempt to avoid answering the first two questions, I don't hesitate to acknowledge the many outstanding mentors, (coaches, teachers, family friends, etc.) who played an important role in his development. The Who's Got Your Back Teen Town Hall will help students understand the importance of developing and nurturing positive relationships with people from various communities."

The event will take place at M&T Bank Stadium (1101 Russell St., Baltimore, MD) from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.

Registration for the event is still open and interested persons can visit http://bit.ly/2kEeHum for more info.
