Meredith Wallace
SCALE (Snyder Center for Aphasia Life Enhancement) at The League, located at Belvedere Square in Baltimore City, today announced the appointment of Meredith Wallace as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for the organization. In her new role, she will be responsible for providing input regarding the needs of SCALE members in the areas of leisure status, interest, ability and program development. She will design and implement services, monitor member participation and progress for in-center as well as community outreach programs. She will determine the impact of socio-leisure factors on individual members and the SCALE program as well as assist with training for families and volunteers. In addition, she will interface with appropriate community groups and organizations as a way to gain additional information and plan leisure activities for members.
Ms. Wallace brings a unique perspective and blend of experiences to her current position. She has over fifteen years of experience as a yoga therapist and over ten years of experience teaching people with disabilities, older adults and people making end of life transition. Additionally, she has over twenty years of experience in skill development in fine arts, performance arts, crafts and outdoor recreation. She has worked in the event planning, production and management arenas where she honed her creative and personal interaction skills. Prior to joining SCALE, Ms. Wallace worked for the Retreat at Sheppard Pratt Hospital where she served as a recreation therapist and yoga instructor.
Ms. Wallace is a certified therapeutic recreation specialist and holds a Bachelors of Science: Recreation and Parks Management degree (with a concentration in therapeutic recreation) from Frostburg State University. She also holds a special certification in yoga therapy for seniors from Duke University.
