Meridian Group Announces Knowland Moving Headquarters to International Place in Rosslyn

3/20/17

The Meridian Group announced today that tech standout Knowland is moving its headquarters to International Place, a 12-story office building in the fast-evolving Rosslyn in Arlington, VA.

Knowland, a globally recognized provider of meeting and group data for the hospitality industry, is moving from DC’s East End to the building at 1735 Lynn Street in Rosslyn. The award-winning company will lease 11,687 square feet.

“A move to Rosslyn made sense for us,” said Tim Hart, CEO of Knowland. “We have been growing rapidly, beyond the capacity of our offices in downtown DC. This new location provides the space we need as we continue to expand the business. And it gives our employees a great work environment that is close to the city, convenient to the Metro, and surrounded by the many restaurants and establishments that Rosslyn offers.”

Knowland was represented by Cushman and Wakefield brokers John Benziger and Jennifer Brody, while Meridian was represented by Nick Gregorios, Dave Millard and Peter Berk of Avison Young.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Knowland to International Place,” said Wil Machen, Vice President at Meridian. “This move supports our view that International Place is a compelling value proposition for groups seeking a prime location within Rosslyn, adjacent to Metro, with robust retail and building amenities, without having to pay new construction rental rates.

“These commitments continue the trend of diversification of the tenant base in Rosslyn beyond the federal government and its contractors. Private sector companies have been driving the leasing activity in Rosslyn in recent years with companies and firms such as CEB, Sinclair Broadcasting, Politico, Grant Thornton, and Graham Holdings making long-term commitments,” Machen added.

Knowland’s decision to relocate to International Place comes on the heels of two other major announcements involving Rosslyn: Nestle USA is moving its headquarters from Glendale, Calif. to 1812 N. Moore Street, and the Grocery Manufacturers Association is relocating from DC’s Central Business District to Potomac Tower.

“Rosslyn is quickly evolving into a vibrant downtown that is attracting smart, growing companies from around the area and around the nation,” said Mary-Claire Burick, President of the Rosslyn Business Improvement District. “Rosslyn is a perfect fit for an energetic, creative and exciting company like The Knowland Group that is looking to attract, retain and engage top talent.”

Meridian purchased International Place in June. Located across the street from the Rosslyn Metro station, the recently renovated building features a new 4,376-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center and a new conference center and tenant lounge.

The 293,539-square-foot building also features the neighborhood’s most robust offering of fast-casual dining options. It is alocated across the street from The JBG Companies’ Central Place, a new development that will include a large public plaza and tens of thousands of square feet of ground-level retail.

Few properties in the metro DC area are as easily accessible as International Place, with the nearby Metro station and access for motorists via Route 50, Interstate 66, Interstate 395, Wilson Boulevard, Clarendon Boulevard, and the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Georgetown is located less than a mile away across the Key Bridge.
