Arts Every Day Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary with Symposium, Sponsored by Point Breeze Credit Union

3/6/17

Arts Every Day celebrates its 10th year of supporting the arts in Baltimore City Public Schools this year with a two-day event, sponsored in part by Point Breeze Credit Union.

The anniversary event, running from March 10 – 11, 2017, will recognize and bring together educators to envision the next ten years of arts education in Baltimore City.

The celebration kicks off March 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. with an awards reception to recognize educators, artists, philanthropists, cultural organizations and public servants who have made an impact on the arts in Baltimore City Public Schools over the past decade.

Then on March 11, teachers, administrators and artists will join for a daylong symposium, Envision. Create. Transform: Baltimore Youth Through the Arts. The symposium will cover the state of arts education in Baltimore and address how the city can prepare for the next generation of creative thinkers. Through the support of Point Breeze Credit Union, teachers will receive discounted tickets to the symposium.

“We are excited about the opportunity to bring together those who are leading the way in arts education,” says Julia Di Bussolo, executive director of Arts Every Day. “The event promotes collaboration and creativity to build upon the quality and quantity of dynamic arts programming in Baltimore schools. We thank our sponsors, including Point Breeze Credit Union, who have made this event possible and who have invested in enriching students’ lives through the arts.”

Arts Every Day is a non-profit organization that serves to strengthen learning by making arts education and cultural experiences an integral part of classroom instruction for students in Baltimore. Arts Every Day provides over $185,000 in funding and professional development support to 40 Baltimore City Public Schools, 80 percent of which are Title 1 Schools serving high-need, low-income youth. This funding supports over 250 arts programs and impacts over 21,000 students and 1,500 educators.

Point Breeze Credit Union most recently supported Arts Every Day through a legacy art and outdoor classroom project at Hamilton Elementary/Middle School. As a not-for-profit financial institution, Point Breeze is committed to reinvesting in the communities they serve to build a prosperous community that benefits all.

“Here at Point Breeze, we hold a deep-rooted philosophy of people helping people and Arts Every Day provides critical opportunities for students in our community to help them become more engaged and ultimately better future citizens,” says Bernie McLaughlin, president and CEO of Point Breeze Credit Union. “Arts Every Day connects schools with in-depth creative experiences which gives students a way to express themselves and take ownership in their work. Through this partnership, we are proud to recognize and support all that Arts Every Day has accomplished over the past decade.”
