DinnerTime Adds the Heart-Healthy Dietary Pattern Recommended by the American Heart Association

3/1/17

March is National Nutrition Month!

DinnerTime, Inc. has teamed with the American Heart Association® to encourage millions of people to eat healthier, consistent with the Heart-Healthy Dietary Pattern announced by the American Heart Association this past fall.

DinnerTime’s highly personalized, sale-smart meal planning web app now includes meals based upon this science-based dietary pattern, as well as highlights American Heart Association® Heart-Check certified food products and recipes on the meal plan and sale-smart shopping list. See www.DinnerTime.com

Automatically using “what’s on sale this week” at the member’s favorite grocery store, DinnerTime’s mobile-friendly web app creates a weekly plan of delicious meal recommendations based upon each person’s – or household’s — unique tastes, budget, and time constraints, as well as many health concerns, food allergies and other dietary restrictions and preferences.

And now, in collaboration with the American Heart Association®, DinnerTime is providing members the opportunity to choose meals that help them achieve a healthier, more balanced dietary pattern that promotes cardiovascular health.

“Eating healthier is integral to the prevention of heart disease, stroke, and related health conditions and DinnerTime makes this process easy and affordable for people to make healthy food choices,” said Rachel Johnson, Ph.D., M.P.H., R.D., American Heart Association® volunteer and Professor of Nutrition at the University of Vermont.

Sharon Lacy, DinnerTime’s V.P. Wellness Initiatives, continued: “By planning ahead and shopping ahead, DinnerTime members more easily follow their good intentions to eat healthier. And as a single mom with four children, saving money off my food bill is a huge plus!”

To kick off the relationship, consumers who join DinnerTime using the promo code ‘HEARTCHECK’ will receive a free 30-day trial to experience the meal planning and shopping savings for themselves. And, for every five families who join DinnerTime with this referral code, DinnerTime will donate a free subscription to a family in need through one of AHA’s designated programs.

“We are very pleased to work closely with the American Heart Association” said DinnerTime CEO Laura Moore. “In addition to helping millions of people enjoy delicious heart-healthy meals, we look forward to supporting AHA programs reaching underserved populations. We want to be sure that all families, regardless of income, employer, or health insurer, have access to healthy meal planning and fresh food, so we will be providing free subscriptions to DinnerTime for underserved families participating in AHA programs.”

DinnerTime is putting its unique, patent pending technology to work to help people choose healthier options, automatically. By helping families plan ahead and shop ahead, they can more easily avoid last-minute, impulse driven choices that are all too often highly processed, unhealthy, and expensive.

More than 85% of DinnerTime members report that one or more family members would like to lose weight, often due to health concerns. And, according to member reports, they are successively doing so, with average weight loss exceeding 16 pounds. Members and their families are achieving long-term weight loss and improved health and energy through sustained lifestyle changes enabled and encouraged by DinnerTime.

In 2016, DinnerTime began adding American Heart Association® Heart-Check certified food products to its database and they are now featured on the grocery list builder as part of delicious meal recommendations. American Heart Association® recipes are also included in the recipe catalog for users to incorporate into their meal plans, particularly for those who indicate a special interest in heart disease and related health issues.
