Roy Rogers Restaurants Announces 2017 Ultimate ROYalist

2/21/17

Roy Rogers® announces the winner of its 2017 Ultimate ROYalist Contest, Frederick Police Officer, Dan Sullivan.

Dan Sullivan proved to be the Ultimate ROYalist not only for his love of Roy Rogers®, but also for his love and commitment to charity and community. As a husband and father of three children, Sullivan has put the needs of others before his own. Two years ago, his five-year-old son, Daniel, “Little D,” was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Since then, Sullivan has made it his mission to give back to those in need. In appreciation for outpouring of local and national support shown to his family, Sullivan plans to pay his gratitude forward by donating his $5,000 prize to Hunter’s Hope and Oakdale High School Robotics Team.

The search for the 2017 ROYalist winner occurred last June through October. The Ultimate ROYalist competition launched in the summer of 2015 as an experiential opportunity for the quick service brand to connect with its die-hard followers through a community-oriented event tour in search of the #1 Roy Rogers® fan. This year, contest participants were given 60 seconds to share why they love Roys in pop-up video booths at community events throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Roy Rogers® received more than 300 ROYalist video submissions and over a thousand votes for the 2017 Ultimate ROYalist contest in which the winner is awarded $5,000 and free Roy Rogers® food for one year.

“We are pleased to announce Dan Sullivan as this year’s Ultimate ROYalist winner,” said Carrie Isabell, Marketing Director for Roy Rogers® Restaurants. “This annual contest not only allows our ROYalists to share their unique, personal stories about their love for Roy Rogers, but also unveils the sense of community and service that is demonstrated among our good-hearted, loyal guests. This is a true representation of Dan as our #1 fan, ROYalists, and this brand.” A ROYalist is defined as a loyal and passionate fan of Roy Rogers® Restaurants – the food, the fun, and the following.

Dan Sullivan will be integrated in Roys social and digital media platforms and appear at select community events to share his experience, including his obsession with the brand’s Gold Rush Chicken Sandwich®, as the #1 Roy Rogers fan of 2017.
