ROAM Fitness Opens First Airport Gym Behind Security

2/14/17

Today's travelers are more aware than ever about the stress that traveling puts on their bodies and the importance of maintaining a fitness routine while away from home. This is the inspiration behind ROAM Fitness, a first of its kind airport gym and shower facility located behind security, which has opened at BWI (Baltimore–Washington International Airport).

ROAM was founded by Cynthia Sandall and Ty Manegold, two active individuals who are also frequent fliers. Frustrated with the lack of healthy options available at airports, they were inspired to create a space where people can escape busy terminals and care for their bodies.

ROAM Fitness is located at BWI airport in the new connector between concourses D and E. The facility is outfitted with a range of Technogym cardio equipment, free weights, stretching space with yoga mats, and private showers with towel service. Members will have access to state of the art equipment; lululemon technical athletic clothes© and Brooks Running shoes available for rent (included in the price of pass) or purchase; carefully curated healthy food and beverage items; and showers with towel service and complimentary Malin+Goetz products that are operated via a reservation system to ensure members are at their gate on time.

Additionally, ROAM Fitness will vacuum seal used clothing so odor won't permeate luggage. Promotional pricing to celebrate the opening runs until April 1st; $25 for a day, $150 for a month, and $500 for a year and can be purchased in the facility or ahead of time at www.roamfitness.com.

About ROAM Fitness

In an airport, it is difficult for individuals to care for their bodies, burn off energy, and stretch their legs. ROAM Fitness is a first of its kind fitness facility, placing gym and shower facilities in airports behind security so that travel days don't have to compromise our health. Traveling is "me time" and for so many of us "me time" means exercising. ROAM is improving the future of wellness by providing a refreshing escape from the stresses of air travel because working out while traveling isn't a luxury, it's a right.
