All of the items delivered on January 31 will be “officially” weighed to determine how many pounds of food SECU collected. SECU staff will also be volunteeringthat dayat the Maryland Food Bank Distribution Center, sorting and packaging goods for delivery to those Marylanders in need.

In addition to food donations, SECU will be donating $5 to the Maryland Food Bank for every new “Like” it receives for its Facebook page until the end of January.

“With the Food Drive, Facebook contest, and volunteer day, we are so happy to be able to do our small part to contribute to all of the great work that the Maryland Food Bank does on a daily basis,” says Carmen David Mirabile, Assistant Vice President of Marketing at SECU.

The Maryland Food Bank was founded in 1979 to coordinate the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the state's hungry. Last year, the Maryland Food Bank distributed more than 26.5 million pounds of food through a network of 600 soup kitchens, pantries, and shelters across the state.
