On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, Offit Kurman principal attorneys Howard Kurman and Laura Rubenstein hosted the firm’s first-quarter, 2017 Baltimore Nonprofit Executives Roundtable. At this roundtable meeting, Dave Ryan of Compensation GPS addressed important executive compensation issues that can prove problematic to those nonprofit organizations that are unaware of existing relevant IRS applicable regulations. Mr. Ryan, a noted executive compensation specialist, led a spirited discussion regarding how nonprofit organizations can and should engage in systematic compensation analysis for its high-level executives in order to avoid so-called intermediate sanctions imposed by the IRS when their compensation practices are under federal scrutiny. Mr. Ryan offered practical and effective advice to the nonprofit leaders in attendance on how to best substantiate their executive compensation structures and actions.
