Junior Achievement of Central Maryland Appoints Kathleen A. Getz, Ph.D., to its Board of Directors

Junior Achievement of Central Maryland Inc. (JA), a non-profit organization dedicated to educating young people to succeed in an ever-changing economy, has named Kathleen Getz to its board of directors.

Since 2015, Getz has served as dean at the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola University, Maryland. At the Sellinger School, Getz focuses on encouraging students, faculty, administration and staff to model business as a positive force for improving the circumstances of individuals and society.

“Kathleen’s values are mirrored by JA’s overall mission, which is to support individuals on their unique paths. We are very excited to welcome her and her powerful philosophies to our board of directors,” said President and Chief Executive Officer of Junior Achievement of Central Maryland Jennifer Bodensiek.

Prior to her position at Loyola University, Getz was dean at the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University, Chicago for three years. She also worked as faculty member, department chair and senior associate dean at American University from 1991 to 2011.

Getz currently serves as board member for the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, and as a peer review team member and Continuous Improvement Review Committee member for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. She has been a speaker for the Department of State International Visitors Program, the Washington Board of Trade and various other organizations.

A former president of the International Association for Business and Society, Getz held an Aspen Fellowship in 2000 and was elected a Fellow of the International Association for Business and Society six years later. Getz is also a former associate editor for the journalBusiness & Society.

Getz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from The Pennsylvania State University, her M.B.A. from Gannon University, and her Ph.D. in Business Environment and Public Policy from the University of Pittsburgh.
