Sinai Hospital of Baltimore was recently recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review in its annual list of “Top 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Neurosurgery and Spine Programs.”

The hospitals and health systems featured on the list “are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and provide patients with access to renowned experts in the neurosciences field capable of delivering comprehensive care for a variety of complicated conditions that affect the brain and spine,” according to the publication.

Becker’s named the Department of Neurosurgery at Sinai Hospital among this distinguished group.

“We are so proud to be listed among the nation’s best in Becker’s Hospital Review of top neurosurgery and spine programs. This recognition reflects the quality care we provide our patients as well as the expertise and caring of our amazing team of physicians, nurses, therapists and staff,” says Neal Naff, M.D., chief of neurosurgery at LifeBridge Health.

Becker’s selects hospitals based on the significance of the recognitions they have received from around the country. The editorial team examines a variety of national rankings and accolades, including U.S. News & World Report and CareChex national and regional rankings for neurological care, neurosurgery and spine surgery.  Other sources include Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s “Blue Distinction Centers for Spine Surgery,” Healthgrades award recipients and hospitals with a Magnet designation for nursing excellence such as Sinai.

The Sinai Hospital department of neurosurgery, part of The Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute, offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for the spectrum of brain and spine disorders. Among the surgical options offered are microsurgery for cervical and lumbar disorders; surgical and radiosurgical treatment of brain and spine tumors; skull base, cerebrovascular, and endovascular neurosurgery; functional neurosurgery; spinal cord and deep brain stimulation; and peripheral nerve surgery. The team is supported by three dedicated physician assistants and is accessible at eight locations throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan area.

Becker’s Hospital Review is a monthly publication that provides business and legal news and analysis of health care systems. The publication started its annual list of the country’s premier neurosurgery and spine centers in 2013. The list is not a ranking or endorsement of selected health care providers.
