LifeSpan Members Claim More Than Half of Top Spots in U.S. News Maryland Nursing Home Ranking

12/20/16

LifeSpan Network members have claimed more than half of the top spots in a new statewide ranking of nursing homes published by U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News looked at more than 15,000 nursing homes across the country in determining the best nursing homes in each state. Just over 2,000 nursing homes, or about 3 percent of all homes in the U.S., earned a top ranking, according to U.S. News & World Report’s Nursing Home Finder.

In Maryland, 36 nursing homes out of a statewide total of 228 received a top rating. Of those 36, 19 are LifeSpan members.

“I’m thrilled to see LifeSpan member nursing homes getting recognition for their hard work,” said Isabella Firth, president of LifeSpan. “Quality of care is something we stress among members and it’s something that really sets our members apart from other senior care providers.”

U.S. News has been releasing its annual Best Nursing Homes list since 2009. It utilizes data published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Nursing Home Compare. In order to be named one of the nation's top nursing homes, a home must have achieved a 4.5-star rating or higher on a 5-star scale as well as consistently meet standards set by U.S. News throughout the year.

The following LifeSpan members were rated among the top in the state:
