Mary Ann Scully
Howard Bank, a growth-focused community bank serving businesses, professionals and individuals in the Greater Baltimore area, today announced that Chief Executive Officer Mary Ann Scully has been named to The Inner Arbor Trust’s Board of Directors.
In addition to Ms. Scully joining the Board of Directors, Howard Bank will donate $50,000 over the next 10 years to the Inner Arbor Trust.
“Serving to promote arts and culture in the beautiful wooded setting of Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods in downtown Columbia is critical to the community and personally gratifying,” Ms. Scully said. “The iconic Chrysalis stage-pavilion-sculpture, opening in Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods this coming spring, is an incredible first step in manifesting Howard County’s mandate, which called for a ‘new kind of cultural park, where the land becomes the setting for arts, cultural and civic uses.’ It is an honor to be named to the Inner Arbor Trust’s board and to join the leadership cause of completing this creative and strategically important Park.”
Michael McCall, founder of the Inner Arbor Trust and its President and CEO, said of Ms. Scully’s appointment: “Mary Ann Scully joining the Board of Directors is great news for Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods, for Columbia’s quality of life and for Howard County’s growth and positioning in the Baltimore-Washington market,” he said. “Mary Ann is recognized throughout Maryland as one of the state’s top entrepreneurs and executives, a leader for whom we are very fortunate to have in Howard County. Mary Ann’s commitment to the Inner Arbor Trust underscores the potential and import of Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods.”
The Inner Arbor Trust is an independent, non-profit organization that oversees the development and transformation of Merriweather Park at Symphony in the Woods as a setting for arts, cultural and civic uses. Located in Howard County, Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods is a 50-acre park that encircles Merriweather Post Pavilion, the region’s premier outdoor concert venue. The park is owned by the Columbia Association.
In 2012, Mr. McCall introduced the Inner Arbor Plan, a new concept for the park proposing several new features and improved connections between Symphony Woods and Merriweather Post Pavilion.
The Columbia Association approved The Inner Arbor Plan and Mr. McCall formed The Inner Arbor Trust in 2013. Since its formation, the Trust has been responsible for the design, development, and management of the property and manifesting the Downtown Columbia Plan mandate for the Park.
