Baltimore Magazine Takes Home Top Honors at Folio’s 2016 Eddie & Ozzie Awards

Magazine’s editorial, digital and design teams recognized with industry awards

Baltimore magazine is pleased to announce that the magazine has won five first place awards at Folio’s 2016 Eddie & Ozzie Awards, the largest editorial and design competition for magazines in the industry.

“The fact that we won in five categories is remarkable,” said Steve Geppi, the owner and publisher of Baltimore. “I take particular pride in the fact that the Folio recognition applies across everything we do: in print, online, feature writing, design, illustration, photography, typography, and the overall quality of our Baltimore Bride issue.”

Specific honors include the following:

-Best Consumer Regional Website: Baltimoremagazine.net

Recognized for excellence in online content for an editorial/magazine website, editorial content, layout, and functionality.

-Best Use of Video:

Recognized excellence in use of video to enhance a user’s experience on digital platforms, including specific videos featuring Aromes Restaurant, and Lefty Kreh.

-Best Supplemental Annual Issue Design: Baltimore Bride magazine

An inclusion of photo shoots, feature designs, and uses of illustration for the yearly wedding magazine.

-Best Consumer Use of Typography:

“Big Fish”, a profile on the world-famous fly-fisherman Lefty Kreh who shares stories from his legendary life.

-Editor of the Year: Food editor Jane Marion

The publication also received honorable mentions for "Tale of Two Cities” (Regional Consumer Single Article), “Magic Surrounds Her”(Consumer Use of Illustration),“Seafood Spectacular” (Consumer Feature Design), consumer website design, and full issue editorial content for Baltimore Bride magazine.

Folio’s Eddie & Ozzie Awards, an annual award presentation for exemplary accomplishments in edit and design, honors the best work in various categories from all areas of the magazine industry. The awards were announced at a celebratory event on October 31 in New York City.

Baltimore magazine is the area’s most popular guide to the best of the greater Baltimore region. Its “Best of Baltimore,” “Top Doctors” and “Best Restaurants” features have become signatures of the magazine, and Baltimore’s monthly exploration of politics, food, business, lifestyle and the arts has earned numerous awards, including several City and Regional Magazine Awards (CRMA) and Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) awards. Baltimore magazine celebrates its 109th anniversary in 2106 and is the country’s oldest continuously published city/regional magazine.
