DMI Collaborates with the International Student Identity Card Association to Launch Mobile App for Students

10/5/16

DMI and the International Student Identity Card Association (ISIC) announced today the launch of the new ISIC mobile app. Designed and developed by DMI, the updated iOS and Android apps simplify the identity verification process and offer personalised and localised discounts and offers from ISIC's partners that encompass over 25,000 global brands.

  • Easy identity verification – The Pew Research Center reported in 2015 that 85 percent of millennials aged 18 to 29 own smart phones. To meet the need of this truly mobile-first generation, the ISIC Mobile ID app provides an easily accessible form of identification. The app will eventually replace the plastic cards currently distributed to students – reducing card loss and theft.
  • Discount on demand – DMI developed a UX that delivers a searchable overview of the offers and discounts available around the globe, in both list and map views. Students can also create a personal list of favourites for easy future reference.
  • Keeping students' data secure – Robust security features ensure student details remain protected and secure. DMI developed a two-step password authentication process linked to the student's email account, time-limited encrypted tokens and fingerprint authentication for newer mobile devices.

James Tjan, senior product manager, mobile at ISIC, said: "ISIC represents the global student community and, as such, we want to be an innovator and early adopter in facilitating the digital wallet for students. The student demographic is embracing new mobile technologies more enthusiastically than any other age group. Offering an ISIC Mobile ID will increase convenience for our student cardholders and enable a greater range of value-added services for them to enjoy. We want students to get involved. The ISIC global app is created for them, and their active involvement via user testing will drive the mobile roadmap going forward."

Magnus Jern, president of DMI International, said: "According to Bond Brand Loyalty, the average consumer is enrolled in 13.3 loyalty programs, enough cards to fill up most wallets. Therefore, the move towards a digital wallet is inevitable and we believe millennials are the driving force behind this. In partnership with the ISIC team, DMI took a fully user-centric approach to design, develop, test and launch the ISIC Mobile ID. The initial result is a product that enables ISIC to engage with its users on a personal level and build member loyalty, as well as helping partnering businesses to tap new revenue streams."
