Volunteers of America Chesapeake CEO Russell Snyder Appointed as President of the Board of Bridges to Housing Stability

Bridges to Housing Stability today announced Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s President and CEO Russell Snyder will serve as its new Board President. He replaces the most recent Past President Alvin Thompson this year.

Mr. Snyder is a transformational executive, who brings a wealth of experience employing progressive solutions that has resulted in unparalleled organizational turnarounds, business development, and advancement strategies across industry spectrums.

Mr. Snyder’s abilities in cultivating strategic relationships with stakeholders, donors, volunteers, and community leaders will bode well as Bridges to Housing Stability seeks to increase organizational awareness, meet the increasing demand for affordable housing for low -wage workers in the County, and further position the organization as the premier community entity that provides permanent housing solutions.

Mr. Snyder is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Volunteers of America Chesapeake, Inc. a faith based non-profit that provides holistic service to vulnerable populations and offers affordable housing solutions. He has been instrumental in the acquisition of a $7 million business that provides health care and human services to medically fragile developmentally disabled individuals, and leading the development and opening of an $11.5 million community corrections facility in Baltimore, Maryland that assists ex-offenders in reentering into the community. Volunteers of America also extends services to over 200 veterans and their families. Mr. Snyder also leads and effort that focuses on affordable housing opportunities for Veterans and partnering with the Howard County Housing Commission in constructing 35 efficiency apartments for previously chronically homeless men and women in Howard County as well as a resource center in the same building that will be operated by Grassroots Crisis Intervention, Inc.

Bridges to Housing Stability is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit with a mission of preventing homelessness through effective services and compelling advocacy that result in housing stability in Howard County. Bridges provides critically relevant services to the Howard County community via Bridges Alliance, an affordable housing program aimed at low-wage working households, and Housing Stability Department, which provides a multi-track system of case management that helps families that are homeless and at-risk of homelessness to find and maintain housing.
