Stratford University is pleased to announce that Ginger Miller has joined the university as a Veteran and Military Consultant. Miller is a service disabled veteran who was once homeless and has been a widely acclaimed advocate for veterans. She will provide consultation on enrollment, retention and benefit issues related to the military and veteran population at Stratford. Founded in 1976 by a Navy veteran, Stratford University, a Yellow Ribbon School, has been named a 2016 Military Friendly® School by the Military Times for the seventh year in a row.

A dedicated advocate for veterans, Miller founded John 14:2, Inc., a non-profit organization to benefit those military veterans and families who are experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, and mental illness, in 2009. She also created the Women Veterans Interactive, a division of John 14:2, Inc. in 2011 to assist women veterans in need.

“Ginger has such a proven track record of improving the lives of military and veterans that we are thrilled to have her join us at Stratford,” said Mary Ann Shurtz, Vice President of Stratford University. “Our dedication to the military and veterans is integral to who we are, as Stratford was founded by a veteran. We want to continue to strengthen our programs and benefits to keep making a difference in the lives of our military and veteran students. Ginger’s expertise and amazing energy and passion for helping others will help us to accomplish these goals.”

Miller has received numerous accolades throughout her storied career, including the White House Champion of Change Award for Women Veterans in 2013 as well as the Governor’s Citation from then Maryland Governor O’Malley for her dedication and service to women veterans in 2012.

In addition, Miller is a widely sought after speaker and has been invited to speak at the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Security Agency and the Department of Veterans Affairs to name a few. Miller has hosted various veteran round table discussions with state veterans agencies and elected representatives in addition to leading workshops on veteran employment and workforce development.
