Tufton Capital Management, a locally owned and managed investment advisory firm, has promoted Eric P. Schopf to Director of Research. In his new role, Schopf, who has over 25 years of investing experience, will oversee the firm’s investment committee and strategic direction of Tufton’s financial research and analytic team.

Schopf, who specializes in the financial, healthcare and industrial industries, also acts as the Chief Compliance Officer for the firm to ensure that all laws, regulations, and rulings are followed at the firm. He joined the firm as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager and has been with the firm since 2001.Prior to joining Tufton Capital, Schopf was a Portfolio Manager in the Trust Department of the Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company.

Schopf, who received his MBA from York College and his BS in Finance from the University of Maryland, is active in competitive cycling.
