John Cavanaugh

NetCraftsmen today announced the addition of John Cavanaugh, a distinguished network engineer with deep experience in IT security, to its team. John will lead NetCraftsmen’s Cyber Security and Cloud Practice.

“We’re delighted that John is joining our team,” said Paul H. Mauritz, CEO of NetCraftsmen. “John has many years of experience working with the CFOs, CIOs, CTOs, and CISOs of large multinational corporations. A holder of four patents, he’ll be a key asset as we continue to build our infrastructure security capabilities. Most importantly, John understands how technology powers business, and is fluent in the languages of both the C-suite and technologists.”

Mr. Cavanaugh is an expert in the architecture and design of Highly Available Secure Network Infrastructure and Data Centers. He has worked with the Education and Research communities on high performance networks, and was the principal Cisco representative on the design of the Internet2’s original Abilene Network. This work on large scale, secure infrastructure led to significant engagements with other Education organizations, many large Enterprise customers, as well as Federal Civilian, Intelligence Community, and DoD Agency projects.

He is also experienced in both the business and regulatory environments for the financial, retail, and health care industries.

Prior to joining NetCraftsmen, Mr. Cavanaugh was Executive Director and Chief Architect for Global Network Services at JPMorgan Chase. Previously, he was a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco. He has worked for Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, and others. He holds U.S. patents related to his work on QoS, Network Security, the evaluation of network design, and optimizing routing convergence.

“I’m excited to join a team of engineers as distinguished as those at NetCraftsmen,” Mr. Cavanaugh said. “I’ve been familiar with their work for some time and am thrilled to work with them.”
