Courtney Haddaway
Building STEPS is pleased to announce that Courtney Haddaway has been named Associate Program Director. In her role, Ms. Haddaway will plan, implement and oversee all aspects of student programming including junior seminars, college workshops and summer internships. Courtney will work directly with students, program partners and the Board of Directors.
Courtney brings with her a breadth of experience working in the field of education. From her position as Team Leader with Baltimore City’s Youthworks program to her teaching experience with K-12 students, Courtney’s passion for education is evident. She is experienced in the intricacies of the college admissions process as well as the student point of view from her employment at UMBC. Working as a peer counselor with the DC College Success Foundation, Courtney also understands the role of a mentor and the importance of academic enrichment.
“As a recent Baltimore City Art Teacher, I've loved watching the creative ways students discover and pursue their passions. I can’t wait to work with such a talented group of students and help them realize their ambitions through Building STEPS. As a former part of the UMBC Admissions team, I will be able to combine my dedication to higher education with my commitment to Baltimore City Public School students.”
Ms. Haddaway holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University and a graduate certificate for the nonprofit sector from UMBC. She is also an AMERICORPS member.
Building STEPS exposes high school students to careers that rely on science and technology and equips them with the tools and resources critical to college access and completion. Building STEPS is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit built on one simple principle; a college education changes a person’s life.
