CMS dining operations at Los Angeles and Las Vegas airports to transition to HMSHost

HMSHost, a part of Autogrill S.p.A., announced today that it has entered into an agreement with concessionaire Concession Management Services, Inc. (CMS) to acquire CMS’s airport restaurants. HMSHost anticipates that it will transition the operations of 16 dining locations at Los Angeles International Airport and McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas), pending airport approval. The transaction is aligned with HMSHost’s goal to continue strengthening its position as the leader of food & beverage services in airports throughout North America.

This transaction follows a strong, long-term partnership between HMSHost and CMS that began in 1995 when HMSHost partnered with CMS, a then newly-formed concessionaire founded by Clarence A. Daniels, Jr. Since then, HMSHost has continued to work with CMS and Daniels, the company’s Chairman and CEO, as CMS has grown to become a truly successful airport concessionaire. As Daniels transitions into retirement from the business, HMSHost will proudly continue to operate these restaurants with the same values the two companies have shared for so long.

“The acquisition of these dining locations will allow HMSHost to expand our presence and provide even more diverse offerings to our travelers at these two airports,” said HMSHost President and CEO Steve Johnson. “Clarence has been a strong partner of ours for many years, and we wish him a very rewarding retirement. We’ve celebrated many successes together through our same strong values of delivering excellent customer service and world-class dining options to travelers, as well as developing our people. These values will continue to drive the future success of these dining locations.”

“The sale of CMS’s restaurants to HMSHost represents another milestone for our company and my legacy,” said CMS Chairman and CEO Clarence A. Daniels, Jr. “HMSHost has been an excellent partner and assisted in our growth. CMS’s evolution from a small business to a firm capable of winning prime contracts is a testament to our development of the next generation of leadership, our commitment to customer service, our brand partners, and the airport industry's belief in CMS.”
