Ellin & Tucker, the Baltimore-based public accounting and business consulting firm, announced today that Edwin Brake, managing director of Ellin & Tucker, has been appointed to the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore’s board of directors. As a member of the board, Brake will help lead the strategic direction of the non-profit and its dedication to creating a more vibrant downtown community for businesses, property owners, residents and employees.

“Joining the Downtown Partnership’s board of directors was a natural fit for me,” said Brake. “Their commitment to Baltimore City mirrors our own here at Ellin & Tucker and I am looking forward to working more closely with Kirby and the organization’s esteemed board to continue stimulating economic development here in Baltimore in new and creative ways.”

Ellin & Tucker has long supported the Downtown Partnership’s mission. In September 2014, under Brake’s leadership, the firm relocated its headquarters to 400 E. Pratt Street as part of a larger open-spaced plan developed by the Downtown Partnership and supported by Baltimore City and the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC) to rejuvenate the downtown area and improve the north side of Pratt Street.

“Ed Brake has long been a leader in Baltimore’s business community and he brings an invaluable perspective to our board of directors,” said Kirby Fowler, president of Downtown Partnership of Baltimore. “As the investment in Ellin & Tucker’s new offices on Pratt Street shows, Ed and his firm are committed to Downtown Baltimore and we are incredibly pleased to have his talent and vision guiding Downtown Partnership forward.”

Active in the Baltimore business community, Brake also sits on the board of directors of the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, serving as past chairperson and current executive committee member; the Maryland Zoological Society, serving as past chairperson and current member of the board of trustees; and the BB&T Baltimore City Advisory Board, serving as chairperson.
