BALTIMORE, MD - David P. Recchia, AIA, Vice President and Partner at Towson-based Rubeling & Associates - one of the region's leading architecture and interior design firms - recently served as a judge for the 2012 National School Boards Association (NSBA) Architectural Jury.

Recchia was one of only three judges who reviewed 45 school designs submitted from across the U.S. One grand award was given, along with five citations. "We looked for designs that went beyond the norm for education facilities," says Recchia. "Each building's layout, the aesthetic quality, how it responded to the environment and site challenges, the cohesiveness from streetfront throughout the interior, and how the design solution satisfied the project needs were comprehensively taken into account."

"We're proud that Dave was chosen by the NSBA to serve as a judge for the Architectural Jury," said Al Rubeling FAIA, President and Founder of Rubeling & Associates. "The excellence of his work in the field of education architecture is the reason he was invited to judge such a prestigious national design competition."

The 45 projects submitted for the competition, along with the six award winningprojects, will be announced and displayed to the 5,000 school board membersattending the National School Boards Convention in Boston in April 2012. The award and citation recipients will also be featured in the association's publication and website.
