Mike Posko

Baltimore - Barely three months following the resignation of Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake's former CEO, HFHC's board of directors has completed an extensive search for the affiliate's new CEO, naming Mike Posko, a native Marylander, to the top leadership position of the nonprofit organization.

Mike Brennan, Board Chair for Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, said, "We went through a very thorough process involving our board's Executive Committee, our senior staff and outside experts to evaluate candidates and to ultimately select Mike. I feel that we found an exceptional candidate with a skill set uniquely suited to HFHC's current needs. Mike will be starting in mid-February, although he will be getting his feet wet before that with some meetings with our Staff and other constituents. This is a great way to start 2012!"

Mike Posko has resided for 50 years in Anne Arundel County and has spent his entire career in the Greater Baltimore area, with 17 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Baltimore and the past 10 years in executive leadership positions serving the real estate construction industry with Struever Brothers, Eccles and Rouse, and Cross Street Partners.

HFHC's new CEO, Mike Posko, said, "I am incredibly excited about working for Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake and helping the organization to continue to grow and serve more families. I am passionate about the affiliate's history of helping deserving families earn an interest-free mortgage to begin a new life for now and future generations to come. The opportunity to work with so many devoted people, including board members, employees, partner families, business partners, youth and faith partners, advocates and the many other volunteers who give so generously of their time and financial support is exhilarating. I look forward to meeting our partners-new and old-as we continue this journey together."

Mike has been actively involved over the last 12 years serving the nonprofit world in various board, committee and volunteer services which led to his interest in joining our Habitat for Humanity affiliate as CEO. He officially assumes the position on a full-time basis on February 13. In the interim, he will be spending time getting to know the board and staff, building a foundation for collaborative teamwork with the organization.

Mike has refined his leadership skills through his participation in both the GBC and Maryland Leadership classes. He brings these skills to an organization serving several diverse constituencies. Under his guidance, the board and staff will develop a shared vision for the HFHC organization by meeting with employees, board members, homeowners, faith groups, volunteers, youth service workers and business partners.

HFHC is developing plans to introduce CEO Mike Posko to the community through a series of speaking opportunities, networking events, open houses, and more. If your organization is interested in an appearance by an HFHC representative, please contact Sandra Erbe, 443.848.3004 or serbe@habitatchesapeake.org.
