The American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Lacey as Regional Major Gifts Officer. Her territory includes 13 counties in Central, Southern and Western Maryland as well as Mineral County, West Virginia.
Ms. Lacey has worked closely with the Red Cross during local disasters while serving as the Director, Grants Development and Policy at the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management in Baltimore. Prior to that she witnessed first had the single family disasters that the Red Cross responds to each day, home fires, during her tenure as the Grants Administrator with the City of Baltimore, Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Ms. Lacey also became well acquainted with the type of lifesaving training offered by the Red Cross while serving as the Director, Health Initiatives, for our national competitor, the American Heart Association.
Ms. Lacey earned a Masters in General Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia. She currently calls Annapolis her home and spends her free time sailing and paddle boarding.
The American Red Cross of Central Maryland shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization - not a government agency - and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
