A new judge has been assigned to the Baltimore Jewish Times bankruptcy case, according to a legal document that citybizlist has obtained.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Nancy V. Alquist was reassigned to the case on January 20, replacing James Schneider.

The move represents another twist in the prolonged dispute between Alter Communications, which publishes the Jewish Times, and its former printer H.G. Roebuck & Sons.

Citybizlist reported last month that a new proposal called for an investor group led by local businessman Scott Rifkin to buy a majority stake in the publication for $600,000.

That proposal scrapped a prior plan that would have divided ownership 55-45 between Roebuck and Andrew Buerger, the fourth generation publisher of the Jewish Times, with Roebuck owning the larger stake.

Last year, Judge Schneider rejected prior plans and ordered both parties to develop a new plan that would take the company out of bankruptcy.
